Hello Everyone!
Welcome to "smile~ngiti"! Ngiti is smile in Filipino. I started this blog to keep all of you updated on my Operation Smile mission to Pampanga, Philippines. I leave today, May 26, and return back home on June 6. I want to say thank you to everyone that has helped me prepare for my mission-- my school, friends, and family! I could not have done it without you! I am so unbelievably excited and honored to be traveling on an Operation Smile Medical Mission. I fly from Orlando to LA to Manila with a refuel stop in Guam. 20 hours+ of traveling! Wow!
Here are a few facts about Pampanga: It is the culinary capital of the Philippines, I can't wait to try all of the yummy new foods. Pampanga is a province and the capital is the City of San Fernando. It is located north of Manila Bay. Pampanga is a new site for Operation Smile.
I am currently waiting in the Orlando airport for my flight to LA. Less than an hour till I board!

What is Operation Smile?
Operation Smile is a non-profit organization that sends medical missions around the world to provide free, life-changing surgeries to primarily repair cleft lips and cleft palates. Operation Smile was started in 1982 by Dr. Bill Magee and his wife Kathy Magee. Since its founding, Operation Smile has transformed the lives of over 120,00 children and adults. Operation Smile has mission sites in over 51 countries including the Philippines, Peru, Kenya, the Dominican Republic, Bolivia, and India.

- Hi! I'm Mary Claire and I am sophomore at All Saint's Academy in Winter Haven, Florida. I have been involved with Operation Smile since 3rd Grade when my brother started the club at my school. Since entering high school, I have become more involved the club. I attended the International Student Leadership Conference in 2009 and Winter Mission Training in 2010. I also enjoy playing soccer, tennis, and spending time with my family and friends. I want to thank all of my friends who have supported me and have helped me prepare for my mission. You all are the BEST! I am so honored to go on a medical mission with Operation Smile. I cannot believe the mission is already here. :)
